January

So, Jeremy is on Uni break which lasts till Feb. I've been loving it and am not sure what I'll do once he's gone and I have to do everything on my own. Now that December is behind us, we've pretty much been hangin' out. Here are a few pics of us from this month.
Jeremy and Kylee are perfecting the Hansen family pancake recipe. So far we've narrowed it down to 3 and this morning, (Australia Day) "fluffy" pancakes were chosen. I put a flag in it before we ate it and they suddenly became "Australia day pancakes" which makes my 3 year old ecstatic!
Jeremy has a new calling in our church on a stake level. That means he gets to go around to all the wards to show support at their ward conferences. This last weekend we had to travel to Bundaberg which is about 4 hours north. We drive a Honda Accord that was made the same year I was born. Yes, we drive a car from 1985. This little beauty, we named "gemima", reached her 200,000th kilometer (which is about 130,00 miles). For a car her age, I think that is worth blogging about.
While in Bundaberg, we scored a great deal at a resort for two nights near mon repos beach. This is the worlds most popular beach for sea turtle activity. Each night, turtles come up onto the beach from the water, dig a hole, lay 100 or so eggs, bury them, then return to the sea. About a month later, the eggs hatch and the little turtles scramble towards the shore looking for the moonlight reflecting off the water. 1 in 1,000 turtles will live to adulthood. The turtles that survive and reach adulthood will return to that very same beach and lay their own "clutch" of eggs. They know where to return because they can feel the earth's magnetic field pulling them back to where they were born. We got to witness part of this amazing, natural, cycle take place. More about it underneath another pic :)
I LOVE this boy. enough said.
Happy 27th Birthday Jeremy!!!!!!! I forgot to put on a hat, (I actually really just don't like the elastic under my neck and so pretended I forgot hehe)
UH< not sure where the rest of the picture is, but aren't they just the two coolest boys in the world? I think so.
Me and my little guy at Mon Repos beach.
He's working on his smile ;)
Does any one else look at cute pictures of their kids and think, "oh my gosh, these kids are so cute. I am so lucky they are mine" ?
My little girl playing "sweeties" with her dolly. Her doll's name is 'Tangled'. Obsessed?- uh yeah.
My handy man....and a happy one at that. Since Jeremy has nothing he has to do, he has never been more busy. He puts on his boots and walks outside and I won't see him for hours. (We live on 14 acres now, so sometimes he is off in the bush, and I have no idea what/where he is or doing) My husband needs a task and a purpose. That is when he is at his best. Can you tell?
Any takers? If you come visit me, this view can be yours.
Bundaberg (where we went for Jeremy's calling) brews bundaberg rum (which I do not drink) and ginger beer. Ginger beer is non-alcoholic and is delish. So, if you come visit us, this drink can be yours, and I will buy it for you. k?
So, the rest of the turtle story. The Mon Repos beach closes at 6pm after which people begin to line up for their chance to catch the turtles in action. Our group got called onto the beach about 8:30. Long story cut short- we saw her dig, lay 111 eggs, bury them, then swim off into the ocean. She laid her eggs too close to the shoreline so we got to dig them up and relocate them further up the shore. This is the only shot we got, though, because there was another turtle next to our group beginning her process and lights from cameras scare them off so we weren't aloud to take any. Me and Ky are in the back-Ky wearing a pink rain coat. Again, this experience can be yours if you come here. It's only $10 to get onto the beach. I would've paid more-it's that cool.
I snapped this photo today.  She's just standing there posing like this while we get everything else out of the car. She is really emphasizing lately that she is a big girl now and I think her favorite word is "why?" She's often seen playing Rapunzel, singing and acting out songs from the movie,  obsessing over her hair and how it's done, and loves getting dressed in the morning. We may or may not argue about how I do her hair. I have met my match. :)
Check out this stud I found hula hooping at the local Australia Day celebration today. He's got great mooooves!
I found this cute little stud too, getting his groove on with the flag. Can't keep this one still though. He's got his mooove on too!
Kylee thinks that her shirt says her name because there's a 'K' on it. She's showing it off for you.
Beefy's meat pies are probably the best in the world. It's like a pot pie, but a little bit better because it's Australian. This is my pie in the picture. Ky wanted a taste. I asked for it back and she said "No, sorry! I don't have enough time to share it with you" That's how good this sucker is, and again, if you come to visit, this pie could be yours. Except, I'll buy you a fresh one :)

English meat pies are so yum. How come they lasted most places the English colonized, but didn't stick here in the USA? I loved stopping for a meat pie in South Africa. I loved that I didn't need a fork or a plate, just my 2 hands:). Love the pictures of the kids. Looks like you are enjoying everything Australia.
