Well it's been long enough and I thought it about time to post something! It's not that we're doing nothing, it's that we're doing so much, I just don't find blogging at the top of my list at the end of the day, however, have skipped out on my beloved 3 hour nap to blog and load some new pictures!
The picture above is actually from before Christmas and I couldn't help snapping this crazy girl wrapped up in a wool sweater while we were literally pouring sweat from the heat. She thought the "ugly sweater" sweater was cool and wanted to wrap up in it. You can see the sweat glistening on her cute face :)
Not such a hot pic of Jeremy but captured how we were all feeling the month of January...WET. For those who didn't know, Queensland (the state we live in) was hit hard with rain and floods all through January. The main city an hour south of us (Brisbane) flooded to the rooftops of the houses. It's so sad, but things are looking up! We, folks up on the sunshine coast didn't get flooded, but we sure got a lot of rain. It felt as though it had rained for 40 days and nights, in fact, I wouldn't go so far as to say it didn't! I'm sure collectively it has rained that much in the last 2-3 months. Mind you, we live in the sub tropics so it is expected to be a little wet. For those who've never lived in the sub tropics, the word "dry" doesn't come up often. Even if it's not raining, it's HUMID and hot. We finally decided to go to battle with the rain and go for a walk. It was really funny actually, I'm sure we were the only crazy ones walking in the rain. The rain was falling horizontally and pretty much defeated the purpose of our umbrellas-which ended up popping up from the wind anyway! HEHE. We just had to get out of the house!!!!!!!!!!!!
| The rain finally cleared and ironically, good quality umbrellas were suddenly in stock at the stores...we welcomed a day of sunny weather for January 26th- Australia day. We did a repeat of the last year and threw some shrimp on the barbie at Happy Valley. Actually, we didn't have shrimp but I made some yummy pancakes and bacon and eggs and invited some friends from church to come along to a breakfast and a swim at the beach. By about 8:00 am we were wet with sweat (doesn't that sound attractive??) and ventured off into the shallow water to cool off. We then went onto a carnival thing and paid $4 for cotton candy per Kylee's request to find out that she's terrified of the stuff and wouldn't even get close to the pink sugar on a stick....I was actually forcing her to try it because I was so annoyed that she's afraid of SUGAR!!! seriously, she's two! Anyway, I ate the gross stuff and laughed off the $4 and 10 min wait in the sun to get it.( not really sure why this is small....) |
My little ballerina is finally official. We got her into dance class at a local performing arts centre. This is her official dance uniform and her hair "must be out of hair" and she has to have proper shoes by week 3 or she can't go into class- This is SERIOUS stuff here. I mean she's IS 2. right??? Why else would I spend $46 on tap shoes? Yeah, we went hungry that week. (not really...)
She's the cute one in the middle just standing there. She's getting a bit better at it but, like her mother, the mirror is her favourite part of dance class. A few weeks ago she just stood there and pulled her skirt up to her armpits and exposed her cute little butt cheeks from her wedgie. Priceless.
In February we ventured across to the other side of Australia to Perth to visit my Poppy and Kathleen (my other nanny). This is Kylee excitedly looking at the big plane. She loved having her own seat to sit on and narrated the whole landing and departure saying "here we go!, we're going up up up in the sky and flying to Perth. It's going to make a loud noise and feel funny. I'm going to sleep on the plane!" Then on the way down, as I was throwing up from turbulence, she was laughing hysterically from the turbulence tickling her tummy again narrating the whole thing " here we go, we're going down to the ground and it's going to make a loud loud noise and we're going to 'the Poppy's' house" She didn't even notice that I was throwing up everything I had just eaten! EWW!
Because my pop is legally blind and half deaf, he can't drive anymore so we did a lot of public transport much to Kylee's delight. She LOVED meeting my poppy and kathleen. She was spoiled rotten and was a happy recipient of everything she received.
We were there for Sunday and Mum helped me do pin curls for Kylee. Apparently Shirley Temple used to sleep in pin curls every night hmmm...
The finished product. She slept really well too surprisingly. She slept in the same bed as me (we left dad at home for the week) and every time she stirred in her sleep she would feel her curls and check that they were still there even in her sleep. This is one of Kylee's favourite dresses that my mum made her.
We took the train North of Perth to visit Kathleen's daughter and have lunch on the marina. It was fun and now any time we talk about riding a train she says that we take the train to "Clark's house" (the train stops name is Clarkson and her cousin's name is Clark so I guess she just put the two together) The photo above is a picture of four generations. Douglas Hayward, Lesley Ann Armstrong, Chelsey Hansen and Kylee Hansen. We had such a fun time getting to know my poppy and Kathleen. I have seen them both about a handful of times in my whole life. It was a special opportunity and I'm really lucky to have been able to go.
Since then, I've had a kid's free weekend away with some girl friends of mine. We drove to Byron Bay which was absolutely beautiful. We stayed in a really sweet resort and got to sleep in as much as we wanted and shop and eat lunch and not think about nap times, snacks, tantrums, etc for 4 days!!! It's just what I needed to get refreshed and rejuvinated for the upcoming arrival of our little boy! The midwife predicts an early labor since his head is down and "in position" Yikes!!! Ready or not, here he comes. I'm due March 30.
Well that'll do for now! See ya! Hopefully not too long from now I'll be posting about our new little baby. Adios!
